I get no confirmation in writing that my credit will be applied. Doing business with the Chicago Tribune sucks! They can't put anything in writing- not good for newspaper.
I guess that is why they have supported the bankruptcy of Illinois and Chicago. Have called multiple times to cancel subscription. Each time am told that the system is down and they cannot process. Absolutely full of it. Called saying I wished to subscribe and they had no issues with pulling up information process a new order at which point I informed them I had just been told their system was down. Told them I was not placing a new order and wanted it cancelled at which point they hung up.
Do not deal with these people. All they do at this point is reprint other people's stories anyways. Meagan L. I trih to subscribe to the digital edition to get access to two historical articles about my grandfather, so I signed up for a three-month trial. When I went to cancel my trial, I was unable to do so online; they only allow cancellations via telephone so they can try to talk you out of it, just to state the obvious and as I live in a different time zone, I was unable to call during their limited weekday membership services business hours.
I sent an email stating that I needed to cancel, effective immediately, and a brief but clear explanation as to why. They also assumed I was a Mrs. When I replied, I learned that their system had blocked my email address, Chiago indeed all emails from my IP address!
I finally convinced the rep that I definitely did not want to renew papeer all of this, but only after I had to be downright rude, interrupting several times and repeating myself like a mean cartoon teacher. In short: the Chicago Tribune got me to sign Chicago trib paper online for a cheap rate, and then they did what they could to make cancelling my "digital" subscription nearly impossible for me. They charged me for two months of subscriptions after I submitted a cancellation request in writing.

Willam E. I am so fed up with late newspaper deliveries, soaking wet papers got just triv, 1 thin bag on itpapers open and blowing everywhere ,no deliveries. Tried using Chicago tribune again after cancelling previously cuz if bad service, but it was the same problems.
Terrible service. Evidently you ate Not listening to your customers. Glad I just stopped being your customer. Shane on this service in Bartlett, IL.
Eric M. BE very wary of extra charges when you have a Chicago Tribune newspaper subscription. The subscription price is now just a loss leader to get your credit card information to charge you Chicago trib paper other crap you don't want. I have subscribed to the Trib since I moved here 30 years ago. Even when people laughed at me for still getting the paper delivered.
I wanted to support print journalism. I have 2 friends who are Trib reporters. I like the feel of the paper in my hands and I didn't want the Trib to close.
They had my subscription and I never had to think about it. For 3 decades, no problem. Got to the point where I didn't even pay attention.
It was just part of my life. The teib was on my porch every day like always. Of course you can trust the Trib I didn't notice much when sometimes recently I would see 2 charges on my credit card bill. I thought, oh sometimes on a monthly charge the Joely fisher porn video cycle paoer and you see 2 on Westerm swing bands a history credit card bill.
So I ignored it. That is what they are counting on. I looked at my account online and saw nothing unusual Chicwgo again ignored it. I looked closely and called and I am just shocked at what I discovered. Sometime in the past 2 years, they apparently just decided it was a great idea to start sneaking in "Premium Issues" and then charging me for them unless I caught them and told them to stop.
I never noticed any Wife portal Issue. I never asked for any Premium Issues. I never wanted any Premium Issues. There was never any indication that I was being charged extra for them. For many years, there would be special issues and magazines and Real Estate inserts Those were free. Those were chances for the Trib to make extra advertising dollars. So why would I assume they were no longer free?
How could I Chicaog the difference between a free color magazine insert and a "premium issue"? I still have no idea. I am sure there is some fine print somewhere that they hope you don't see. I find out that those tiny cards I sometimes see in the mail have some disclaimer on them that I am supposed to read to stop the issues.
Nothing on the website. Nothing in the "manage subscription" section of my online account. Just a tiny card that the mail guy slides inside catalogs and magazines and looks just like junk mail if you see it at all. They want you to think it is just unimportant junk mail. They want it to get lost amidst the other mail. So they can charge the credit card you have trusted them with.
It is a straight up scam. It is not the honest way to do business. The clear intent is to deceive the customer. You want to raise the price? Let me choose whether to continue paying tib. Fine, let me decide whether I want to order Chicabo. But sneaking in crap I didn't ask for and charging me without expressed approval is shady.
The Chicago Tribune abuses the privilege of holding your credit card info. I asked for them to credit the money back for these premium issues and they agreed. They didn't actually credit back the charges Did I ask for that? I asked for a refund. They simply can't be trusted. I finally got the refund and cancelled my 30 year subscription. I even had to replace the credit card since there is no way online to delete your credit card info once they have it.
I am certainly not going to trust them to delete it if I ask over the phone. Never will the Trib see another dime from me. Let them go out of business. Thanks for destroying what was a nice, comfortable and familiar part of my day for 30 years The Tribune delivery Lycra slut apparently has a monopoly on delivering papers all across Chicagoland.
When I lived in Wheaton, very rarely did I have a delivery issue. Now in Aurora, issues all the time. The delivery "team" needs to be disbanded and another one created.
Sharon B. I tgib been a Chicago Tribune customer for years. The last 2 weeks I have been calling them daily as I am not receiving my paper. I cannot get this Chhicago resolved.
